Why "Free" Gym Software Usually Isn't
Gym management software is expensive to run — payment processing, member data, scheduling engines, SMS and email delivery all cost real money. So when software is "free," the company is making money somewhere. The only question is where:
- Trials monetize by converting you to a paid plan in 14 days — fine, but that's not free software, that's a test drive.
- Freemium shells give you member profiles but paywall the things a gym actually runs on: recurring billing, class scheduling, or point of sale. You end up paying within a month anyway.
- Free-with-payments models give you the real software and earn on card processing when your members pay their dues. This is the Square/PushPress model, and it's the only version of "free" that holds up long-term — because the company makes money when you make money, not by squeezing you into an upgrade.
We think the third model is the honest one, so that's what we built.

We earn a small share of processing on payments you were going to collect anyway; the software costs you nothing. When your gym grows past 50 members, paid plans start at $79/month flat — no per-member pricing, ever.
Two limits keep the free tier sustainable: 1,000 marketing emails per month (receipts and booking confirmations never count), and a small monthly Pulse AI credit rather than the full AI suite. Everything operational is genuinely included.
Who Launch Is For
- New gyms and studios — your software bill at month one is $0, and your payment processing comes with hardware included. Spend the savings on equipment.
- Small boxing, MMA, and strength gyms — 30-40 members with real billing, scheduling, and a portal, without a $100+/month software line item.
- Side-hustle and garage gyms going legit — moving from Venmo-and-spreadsheets to real recurring billing is the single biggest upgrade a small gym can make, and now it's free.
Who It's Not For
Honesty works both ways:
- Gyms over 50 active members — you'll cap out. Start on Starter instead.
- Gyms locked into another payment processor — Launch requires GymPoint Payments. If you can't or won't switch processing, the free plan isn't for you (our processing rates are public, so you can do the math on whether switching saves you money anyway — it usually does).
- Multi-location operations — that's Pro territory.
